2021 High School Cross Country Team

Congratulations High School Chieftain Cross Country Team! These athletes put in 20-30 miles per week to train - starting in August before school starts. They run in every kind of weather and smile while doing it. If you see them congratulate them on a job well done.  Saturday in Ketchikan they ran their final regular-season race. The weather made for some cold, wet, and windy conditions (the boys' race had hail, thunder, and lightning as well). These runners made the best of it and came out smiling.

For the boys' team, each member had a season-best time and brought the team up to 5th place in our region. Marley Kness placed 9th to individually qualify for state.  The boys' team members are Dalton Wyzykowski, Ian Owen, Emett Fairbanks, and Jacob Isaacs.

The girls' team had a great showing placing 2nd in our region and qualifying the team to go to state. Kenai Holien placed 6th, Lexi Johnson 8th, Kyla Jones 9th, Isabella Hoppe 21st, and Hailey Hedges 25th for a team score of 61.

Congratulations to the following season awards also:

All Academic athletes are Kenai Holien and Jacob Isaacs.

Great Sport athletes are Hailey Hedges and Dalton Wyzykowski.

Great job Chieftains! We are proud of you!
