letter from principal

Dear Klawock Students and Families,

It is with great excitement and pride that I write this letter of introduction to you as the new principal of Klawock School!

Along with Mr. Holien, the teachers and staff, I can assure you that I will work hard to continue the legacy of success established by Klawock School by building strong relationships with students, parents and community partners. I am truly honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such persevering students, dedicated staff and supportive families. I feel fortunate to be a part of the school community and am very eager to work with you as a partner in education.

Although I am new to your school, I am not new to education. I have fifteen years’ experience as a school administrator and prior to becoming an administrator, I was a teacher for sixteen years. (All but four of those years were in Alaska.) Please Note: I am not as old as that sounds!!!

I am happy to report that I am not the only new staff member this year! We have Robert Jeffery joining us as a secondary social studies teacher and Rachel Taylor joining us as a second-grade teacher! We are excited to welcome them to the fine staff! I know they will be successful because they have our veteran staff members to support them. Our established teachers will be great mentors and wonderful role models for our new staff and students.

All of us at Klawock School are eager and excited to begin what promises to be a fantastic school year! This year is going to be amazing as we work together to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous and relevant. We will build relationships with one another while making real world connections. As your principal, it is important to me that EVERYONE who steps through our doors feels welcome and is excited to be here! A positive attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a fun, safe and nurturing environment. But most importantly, I bring a strong belief that students are at the center of all school related decisions. I am excited to unite my experience, enthusiasm and my student-centered approach to supporting our students. Because the relationships between families and the school are vital to the success of our students, I encourage you to become involved in every way possible. When you are at the school, stop by the office and say hello. I would love to meet you!

Respectfully,

Michelle Beito

Principal
